Max Planck Summer Conference 2015 in Reims: Territories of the Economy

From July 5-8, 2015, around thirty researchers met at the tenth Max Planck Summer Conference on Economy and Society held in Reims. The conference brings together ongoing research from the fields of political economy and economic sociology. Under the conference theme of "Territories of the Economy," research was presented and discussed on topics such as the political economy of international adoption, the relationship between prosperity and public debt, the effect that natural disasters have on election results, labor policies in the era of liberalization, and the growth of major cities. The annual Max Planck Summer Conferences provide young researchers with opportunities to gain feedback and ideas from experienced, international colleagues. The conferences are organized alternately by the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE) and its partner institutions (Columbia University, Northwestern University, Sciences Po, European University Institute) in Europe and the USA and aim to promote discussion and cooperation among researchers and the institutions.
