Lukas Haffert and Philip Mehrtens receive MPIfG Advisory Board Award 2017

Lukas Haffert and Philip Mehrtens received the MPIfG Advisory Board Award 2017 for their paper entitled "From Austerity to Expansion? Consolidation, Budget Surpluses, and the Decline of Fiscal Capacity" (Politics and Society 43, 2015). Frank Dobbin, Chairperson of the MPIfG Scientific Advisory Board, emphasized the particular significance of the article for austerity research. Honorable Mention was awarded to Annette Hübschle for "The Social Economy of Rhino Poaching" (Current Sociology 65, 2017) and Sebastian Kohl for "The Power of Institutional Legacies" (European Journal of Sociology 56, 2015). The MPIfG Advisory Board Award for the best research article or best book chapter is awarded every three years on the occasion of the evaluation of the Institute.
