Visitors in summer 2017

This spring and summer, seven visiting researchers have taken up their work at the MPIfG: Tim Bartley, Associate Professor of Sociology at Ohio State University, has been the Scholar in Residence at the MPIfG since May 2017. In addition to developing a new theory of transnational governance, he examines projects on regulation and its implications for industries, employees, spheres of life, and actor groups. Elizabeth Carter, University of New Hampshire, Durham, will be at the MPIfG in July and August analyzing the "politics of value" and especially the connections between political organizations, market protection, and the creation of value in European luxury markets. Felipe González, Universidad Central de Chile, will be in Cologne in July. Daniel Miguez, University of Buenos Aires, will be at the MPIfG from May to July examining perceptions of legal norms and the existence of illegal markets in Argentina and Chile. Iacopo Mugnai, University of Warwick, was at the MPIfG from April to June and focused on Germany’s role in the euro crisis. Alice O'Connor, University of California, Santa Barbara, will be a guest in July in Ariane Leendertz’ research group on the Economization of the Social and the History of Complexity researching the topic of neoliberalism and the Democratic Party.
